Mary of Nazareth appears in the Gospels as the mother of Jesus, present at his birth, at the wedding at Cana, at the foot of the cross during his crucifixion, and among the disciples after his Resurrection. Catholic doctrine holds that she was conceived without original sin (the Immaculate Conception) and, at the end of her life, was assumed body and soul into heaven.
She is venerated across every Christian tradition under a wide range of titles and depictions, and is the subject of more feast days than any other saint.
