Apostles
The Apostles were the twelve men Jesus chose during his earthly ministry to be his closest followers and the first witnesses of his teaching, death, and resurrection. After Pentecost they carried the Gospel across the Mediterranean world, and the Church still traces its bishops back to their authority today.
