Carlo Acutis was born in London in 1991 to Italian parents and raised mainly in Milan. From a young age he was known for a deep personal devotion to the Eucharist, attending daily Mass, and for an unusually mature care for the poor and marginalized among his schoolmates, sharing his allowance and defending classmates who were bullied.
A gifted, self-taught computer programmer, he spent his early teenage years building a website that catalogued and documented Eucharistic miracles recognized by the Church around the world, intending it as a tool of evangelization for other young people. He was diagnosed with acute leukemia in 2006 and died within weeks, at fifteen, offering his suffering, he said, for the Pope and the Church. He was beatified in 2020 and canonized in 2025.
